The Donuts are back, and they’re bringing their signature power-pop-coated pub rock to the Mancave for a night that promises to be as clever as it is loud.

Back in 2018, these Philadelphia pub rock stalwarts took over Kung Fu Necktie to play Rockpile’s legendary Seconds of Pleasure LP in its entirety. Why did they do it? Honestly, they can’t remember. But the obsession didn’t stop there.

The Donuts have gone one step beyond with their latest release, The Pleasure of Seconds—an album entirely made up of "answer songs" to Rockpile’s originals. Where Rockpile affectionately sang “Teacher Teacher,” the Donuts counter with the decidedly sexier “Substitute Teacher.” Where Rockpile dreamed of “When I Write the Book,” the Donuts offer up the brutally honest “Every Book I Never Read.”

Of course, a high-concept tribute like this wouldn't mean much if the tunes didn't deliver. Luckily, the band—once memorably dubbed "a band to watch" by Playgirl magazine—delivers these pub rock replies wrapped in the exact kind of infectious, hook-heavy power pop confection they’ve long been celebrated for.
