About the Band

Since forming in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1988, Tempest has been at the forefront of the Celtic Rock movement. Led by the charismatic, Norwegian-born Lief Sorbye, the band is celebrated for a signature sound that fuses the driving energy of progressive rock with the haunting melodies of traditional Irish, Scottish, and Scandinavian folk.

Over more than three decades, Tempest has built a global reputation for their virtuosic musicianship and relentless touring. The current lineup features a powerhouse collective of folk and rock veterans, including:
